nendo house限定商品 / Limited product 「モノがキレイに回転する」ためには、「重心」「重量」「先端形状」といった複数の条件と「回転させたい軸」と「回転しやすい軸」をできるだけ一致させることが重要であり、逆にこの4つの条件さえ満たせば「見かけの対称性」はさほど重要ではないことに注目しました。 そこで、「最も回転しなそうな形」、つまり対称性が無く、回転体や曲面でもない、直線のみがランダムに構成された造形物に真鍮のオモシを入れたコマをつくりました。 遺伝的アルゴリズムと呼ばれる計算手法で、「重心」「重量」「先端形状」「回転させたい軸と回転しやすい軸の一致」の4つの条件を同時に評価しながら、形状およびオモシの配置と量の最適な組み合わせを検討しました。3Dプリンターを使った物理的な検証結果をそのプログラムに反映し、100通りの組み合わせを200回以上繰り返し試した結果、10秒間以上回転可能な最終形体を導き出すことができました。 Perusing published reports and books to study conditions that would make an object spin cleanly made something clear: matching the axis on which the object is designed to spin, and the axis on which it will spin most easily, is as important as conditions like center of gravity, weight, and tip shape.
